CLASS ADVANCEMENT Advancement may occur at any time, but on average students are expected to remain in a level for a minimum of one year. Your child may not be promoted every year. Our primary concern is that a student be placed in a level that is appropriate to his or her skill level and physical strength. If the child is promoted too soon, then he or she will miss some very valuable training. These children also struggle in the next level, which is unnecessary and could result in injury. A student who carefully develops his or her technique early in the curriculum will find advancement in later years to be smoother and more rewarding.
BASIC COMBINATION CLASS For beginning students 3-8 years of age. This 45 minute class combines tap and ballet, and is designed to give the student a chance to explore the basics of each. It will encourage your child’s creative spirit, introduce rhythm, and begin to foster the love of music and dance.
BALLET © Ballet I – 30 or 45 minute class Ballet II – 45 minute class Ballet III – 60 minute class For students 7 years of age and older. Ballet is the foundation of all types of dance. This class teaches students ballet concepts, terms and disciplines in a fun and creative manner.
. TAP © Tap I – 30 minute class Tap II – 45 minute class Tap III – 45 or 60 minute class For students 7 years of age and older. Tap is an original American form of dance, allowing students to make sounds and rhythm with their feet. This dance style teaches musicality, precision and articulation of the feet.
BALLROOM For students of all ages. Each session works on a different style of ballroom. Learn to mambo, cha-cha, waltz, polka, tango, swing and many other styles. (This class is offered only at certain times. Please ask the receptionist about availability.)
JAZZ © Jazz I – 30 minute class Jazz II – 45 minute class Jazz III – 45 or 60 minute class For students 7 years of age and older. Jazz is a stylized form of dance conceived in America with great ethnic influences. It uses a ballet basis, but stylizes it to fit more contemporary music. It is popular today in music videos, commercials and movies. Ballet is strongly suggested to be taken either prior to, or in conjunction with jazz classes. Students are required to take Ballet I before taking Jazz III.
ADULT COMBINATION CLASS 45 minute class This class is designed for adults who love dance and music. It incorporates both Jazz and Tap in a fun and exciting environment. No previous dance experience is required. Tap into your own creative self expression and enjoy a great workout at the same time.
GYMNASTICS/TUMBLING Beginner gymnastics–45 minute class Gymnastics I or II – 45 minute class Gymnastics III – 60 minute class Our gymnastics/tumble program is for students 4 years of age and older. All skills are taught on gymnastic floor mats. The program revolves around the strength of the four basic skills; splits, forward and backward rolls, backbend and handstand skills. All classes are designed to help build strength, avoid injury and develop good technique. Due to the nature of tumbling and the injures that can occur, all students are required to purchase gymnastics insurance through the studio.
HIP HOP Hip Hop I – 30 minute class Hip Hop II – 45 minute class For students 9 years of age and older. Hip hop is a “funky” form of dance. It is similar to jazz but carries less structure (technique) and more freedom of movement., and is often danced with today’s “rap” music. Any student wishing to take this class must also take a core class in conjunction with hip hop.
POINTE For students 12 years of age and older who have passed level II ballet and have instructor recommendation. This class is designed for the disciplined ballet dancer that wishes to take their dancing to the next level. Passing a pre-pointe class is required.
